GSO-MEM INTRODUCED TO EUROPEAN JOURNALISTS
The European Union (EU) Delegation to Turkey within the scope of the excursion program organized by European journalists Gaziantep Chamber of Industry Vocational Training Center (GSO-MEM) visited. Under the program, including the delegation in Gaziantep, Turkey Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges carried out under the leadership of professional qualifications documenting "Mahir Hands" was given information about the project.
The Secretary General of GSO Kürşat Göncü stated that they were pleased to host the delegation at GSO-MEM and that they established the central Gaziantep industrialists in order to train qualified personnel and find solutions to this problem.
Göncü stated that the trainings given at the GSO-MEM are determined according to the demands of the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Qualification Authority and industrialists. and Gaziantep Organized Industry Regional Directorate. It has a closed area of 11 thousand square meters and has 20 workshops / laboratories and 28 training halls. In the center where workshops are established with the support of United Nations Development Program (UNDP), vocational training programs are carried out in different fields within the framework of cooperation with International Labor Organization (ILO), International Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), German International Cooperation Organization (GIZ). In GSO-MEM, vocational development trainings for the existing employees of the industry, youth who want to have a profession, women with disabilities, vocational training for all unemployed people who come to Gaziantep and can be considered as disadvantaged group, institutionalization trainings for enterprises, personal development trainings for employees, vocational qualification exam We also provide competency-based trainings to those entering. In our center, where we started training in April 2017, we have trained more than 4 thousand trainees so far. ”
Göncü also gave information about the Eğitim Vocational Training Project in Gaziantep Industrialist Cooperation (GASİMEP) ile which is carried out with the Ministry of National Education in the field of vocational education. With the project, we aim to contribute to the strengthening of the cooperation and relations between vocational and technical education and private sector, increasing the quality of vocational and technical education, eliminating the problem of qualified personnel of the industry, and providing employment to the people who are out of vocational education and training. ’
Göncü stated that in addition to the daytime trainings, evening training courses were also given within the scope of the project which is carried out in cooperation with GSO-MEM and German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ). We plan to provide vocational training and career development trainings. Among Turkish and Syrian trainees, there are also groups with a high level of vocational training and we are preparing training plans for them. Our center also serves as the Yet Authorized Certification Body ında for the manufacturing needs of the Gaziantep industry, especially for the occupations within the scope of the certificate requirement, which our industrialists need certification. We give trainings to our students who have graduated from mechanical engineering department of universities. We give life skills, Turkish language courses, occupational health and safety lessons to our Syrian trainees. We also have courses like adapting to social life and adapting to business life. After these trainings, we start to give normal vocational trainings ”.
After the presentation, the delegation visited the workshops in the center and received information from the authorities.
